DESCRIPTION:The HND Photography students are working on a collaborative project under the theme of Wellbeing. They are inviting individuals that wish to have their portrait taken in the photographic studio to participate in their project and support a good cause. As the project is about Wellbeing all participants are invited to bring a cherished possession that contributes to their Wellbeing. The photoshoot will take place on Thursday 23 May. Their chosen charity is 聽Mental Health Foundation / Everyone deserves good mental health 聽a suggested donation of 拢5.00 will be collected on the day and will be send to the charity. \n\n\n\nAfter the photoshoot\, all participants will receive one of their portraits and a diptych of their portrait with their still-life/object. Renowned pianist Andrew Zolinsky will grace the stage\, showcasing his virtuosity and artistry in Mozart鈥檚 concerto. \n\n\n\nPerformed by: The Morley Chamber Orchestra \n\n\n\nConducted by: Charles Peebles \n\n\n\nPiano: Andrew Zolinsky \n\n\n\nProgramme: \n\n\n\nWeill Symphony no. 2 \n\n\n\nMozart Piano Concerto in C minor\, K491 \n\n\n\nAndrew Zolinsky \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAndrew Zolinsky鈥檚 unique style of programming and his individual interpretations have secured worldwide performances at many prestigious venues and festivals.聽 His work with living composers brings a vivid freshness\, energy and passion to his interpretations of music from previous eras. \n\n\n\nThough a noted performer of contemporary and lesser-known repertoire\, Andrew enjoys performing a wide range of music spanning several musical periods.聽 He has performed with major orchestras\, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra\, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra\, BBC National Orchestra of Wales\, London Sinfonietta\, Philharmonia Orchestra\, London Concert Orchestra and the Orchestre National de Lorraine\, and has worked with many distinguished conductors including\, Stefan Asbury\, Miguel Harth-Bedoya\, Jonathan Bloxham\, Martyn Brabbins\, Baldur Br枚nnimann\, Diego Masson\, Jamie Philips\, Andre De Ridder\, David Robertson\, Ryan McAdams and Pascal Rophe. \n\n\n\nAndrew has given World and regional premieres of many of David Lang鈥檚 works\, including the world premiere in New York of the complete set of Memory pieces.聽 Lang鈥檚 beautiful piano piece 鈥楾his was written by hand鈥� was written especially for Andrew; he has recorded both this and the Memory Pieces on the Cantaloupe label. \n\n\n\nAndrew is also very closely associated with the music of Unsuk Chin.聽 He has performed her complete Etudes for solo piano on many occasions\, including the French (Festival Musica in Strasbourg)\, London (Wigmore hall) and Italian (Venice Biennale) premieres.聽 Andrew also gave the London premi猫re of her Piano Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Miguel Harth-Bedoya.聽 As part of the BBC鈥檚 鈥楾otal immersion鈥� series in 2011\, Andrew gave the UK premiere of the Double Concerto with percussionist Owen Gunnell and the London Sinfonietta conducted by Stefan Asbury at the Barbican Centre. \n\n\n\nIn addition to Lang and Chin\, Andrew has been closely associated with and\, on many occasions\, performed works by Laurence Crane\, Michael Finnissy\, Michael Zev Gordon\, Simon Holt\, Valentin Silvestrov and Diderik Wagenaar; Finnissy\, Zev Gordon\, Lang and Holt have written and dedicated pieces to him. \n\n\n\nThe music of women composers has been a central part of Andrew鈥檚 repertoire for his whole career to date. In addition to Unsuk Chin\, he has premiered and performed works by\, among others\, Carla Bley\, Deirdre McKay\, Anna Meredith\, Linda Catlin Smith\, Karen Tanaka\, Anna Thorvaldsdottir\, Judith Weir and Julia Wolfe. \n\n\n\nAs a chamber musician\, Andrew has worked with the Belcea Quartet\, the Vanbrugh Quartet\, Emily Beynon\, Krzysztof Chorzelski\, Michael Collins\, Benjamin Marquise Gilmore\, Andrew Haveron and Daniel Hope. \n\n\n\nAndrew has performed at most of the major UK venues\, and at Merkin Hall\, Brooklyn Academy of Music and Le Poisson Rouge in New York\, the Venice Biennale\, International Piano series at London鈥檚 Southbank Centre\, Piano Rarities Festival in Husum\, Germany and in China\, the Czech Republic\, Iceland\, Ireland\, Japan\, Lithuania\, Spain\, Taiwan and Canada. \n\n\n\nLast season鈥檚 highlights included a BBC Radio Three recording with the BBCNOW conducted by Jonathan Bloxham of a previously un-recorded Piano Concerto written in 1938 by Johanna Senfter\, a former student of Max Reger. \n\n\n\nDuring the 2022/23 season\, among other concerts\, Andrew performed at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival\, New Music Dublin and Dark Music Days\, Iceland; these three major festivals were all co-commissioners of two new major solo piano pieces written for him by the Irish composer Linda Buckley and the Icelandic composer Lilja Mar铆a 脕smundsd贸ttir. DESCRIPTION:Maria Canyigueral presents a programme dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach and some of the tributes to his compositions which can be found through the history of western music. \n\n\n\nA selection of preludes and fugues by the baroque master will be sounding alternated alongside some Shostakovich鈥檚 preludes and fugues. \n\n\n\nThe programme will be completed with Chaconne by Sofia Gubaidulina (1931) written in 1962\, the same year as pianist Gonzalo Soriano was premiering Sonatine pour Yvette by the catalan composer Xavier Montsalvatge (1912-2002)\, one of the most brilliant piano pieces in the contemporary repertory with clear post-impressionistic influences. \n\n\n\n1962 was also the year when Montsalvatge composed Morphological desintegration of the Bach Chaconne\, a magnificent orchestral work. \n\n\n\nThe concert will conclude with the 4th Ballade by F. CHOPIN \n\n\n\nBiography \n\n\n\n\n\n\nMaria Canyigueral has been described by Pizzicato magazine as a pianist who convinces with a finely nuanced sensitive playing\, that one wants to listen to and Pianist of great personality by La Vanguardia. \n\n\n\nMaria Canyigueral has inspired collaborations with outstanding contemporary composers such as Ant贸n Garc铆a Abril\, Benet Casablancas\, Nicolas Bacri and Konstantia Gourzi. \n\n\n\nRecent highlights include recitals at Palau de la M煤sica Catalana and Auditori Barcelona\, at Fundaci贸n Juan March\, at the Wigmore Hall and Ljubljana Festival. She recently made her debut at Gran Teatre del Liceu performing Beethoven Choral Fantasy Op.80 with Fundaci贸 Liceu orquestra and Manel Valdivieso. Maria has performed in Spain\, the UK\, Japan\, Belgium\, Slovenia and France. \n\n\n\nIn addition to her live performances\, Maria has made an impact with her recordings. Her solo album Avantguarding Mompou for Audite (2020) has been critically acclaimed by International Piano\, Pizzicato\, Revista Musical Catalana and Mel贸mano. The project was awarded by the Arts Council in England and supported by Instituto Cervantes\, Fundaci贸 Mompou and Institut Ramon Llull. \n\n\n\nTrotovsek-Canyigueral first album (Hedone Records\, 2016) received a Gold Medal at the Global Music Awards. She recorded two more albums for Hedone Records (2017\, 2021)\, alongside flutist Boris Bizjak and a recent live recording from a solo recital at Palau de la M煤sica Catalana. Her live performances with Lana Trotovsek at Festival Ljubljana 2020 of the complete Sonatas for violin and piano by Beethoven were published by ZKP RTV (2021). The recordings were awarded 鈥楳el贸mano de Oro鈥�. Canyigueral-Bassal Beethoven complete works for cello and piano for Da Vinci Classics (2023) is the recipient of 鈥楳el贸mano de Oro鈥� and nominated for the ICMA awards 2024.
